The crux was early in the climb. The first 30' are visible then the climb goes left into a big black dihedral to the top. 

  Placing gear at the start is probably the crux.

The crux is high on route as you traverse up and right. First few bolts warm you up then it's a race to the top.

  First was soloed to access to top of the wall. This was the first route climbed on the wall.  

  Sgt Korthaus and Cpl James were providing  security for our unit and drowned crossing  the Saddam Canal attempting to set an LPOP on the other side roughly 100' wide. We were all shocked as we watched them swim across a relatively calm current,  go under and not come up. They were the  first warriors I knew that paid  the ultimate price. The start is easily protectable twin cracks that meander up and right becoming incipient cracks.

 This route was bolted on lead. Starts on a blunt arête and follows the right side of a west facing wall.

Starts in shallow dihedral, heads out left side of roof

EXTRAORDINARY HEROES was established on 9-11-15 in honor of the first responders that ran towards danger.   Ryan Chamberlain ask that the aka go to Andrew Ashcraft did not put down his saw when the Yarnell Fire swept his position.   When Ryan asked, I took off my white Be Better  bracelet and tossed it to him. ABSOLUTLY! We both got a little choked up.    Ryan said he was the first kid to be nice to him when he moved into his elementry school.    After talking with one of my good friends about lifes struggles he shared Andrew's story with me. I now wear the bracelet to honor the Yarnell 19 and remind me to fight the good fight, to choose the right, and to each day Be Better!

This route was put up on 9-11-15    Named in Memory of Americans that lost there lives in the towers as well as the Pentagon.   Ryan asked that the AKA go to Katelyn Conrad who fell Rappelling at Coon Bluff.

This wall began its transformation on Memorial Day 2015. Having served in the Marine Corps and in the Army as a medic/nurse. My day was spent thinking of not dying on a solo FA of what is now Revolutionary a 5.6, and how stupid it was to have taken that route (wearing my 30 lb pack and my. Danner. combat boots) vs a longer safer hike to the top.    While on top looking down the canyon, I thought back to my deployments, and the men and women that died. Whether you were for or against the war in Iraq, it kept the fight in the land of our attackers and not in our cities and towns.    I thought back to those who fought with my father and died to slow the spread of communism in Vietnam and Korea, that kept Japan, Germany, and Italy from taking the world and exterminating the Jews in Europe.    I am humbled and proud to have walked in their shoes. The blood spilt by those who gave their all to establish our nation, where all are free to achieve their dreams, is sacred and deserves to be remembered everyday, every minute. My hope is that all who climb here remember those that gave up their hopes and dreams so that we could live ours. Each route name that I give here has meaning and I encourage you to looking into it.
