ROUTES ON THE NORTH FACING SOUTH SIDE OF THE GROTTO HAVE BEEN REMOVED, POSTED, AND CLOSED. The park service has deemed that there are endangered plants on the north facing faces of The Grotto that need to be protected. Also, the Park Service has ignored climbers at Echo Cliffs, but recent activities such as dogs at the base of the cliff, trash, tissue paper/feces, fire pits, and loud music have been observed and climbers are on notice and on the radar.

ROUTE CLOSED DUE TO SENSITIVE/ENDANGERED PLANT HABITAT

Puffing Hunchback begins with a short overhanging finger crack on the wall right of Game Boy. Above the 2nd bolt the route continues up on small flakes and edges. After the 3rd bolt Puffing Hunchback moves left and passes over a bulge just right of the arete. Continue up the steep wall on small friable looking flakes to the anchor.

Climb up the left side of the block, to the left of Little Giant, past three bolts.

Climb the blunt arete to the right of Superfly.  Expect some unpleasant rock and some awkward climbing.  Not as fun as Superfly, but worthwhile if you are already climbing the cool 10a next door.

Start from a boulder in the stream. Climb up along the arete. At the top, go left to the anchors shared with Miss Pacman.

"Dipstick" is the left most of the three routes on the huge orange block that sits above the entrance to the Grotto. Start climbing in the pit below the block and climb up tensiony 5.11 moves on sidepulls and underclings to a rest on the horizontal break. After lingering here, punch through the powerful headwall crux.

Climb up the left side of the face, just left of Game Boy, to anchors shared with Game Boy.

The Park Service has ignored climbing activity at Echo Cliffs with the expectation that climbers would police themselves, but activities such as dogs at the base of the cliff, trash, tissue paper/feces, and loud music have put climbers on notice and on the radar.

ROUTE CLOSED TO PROTECT ENDANGERED PLANTS. The Park Service has deemed that the all routes on the north facing, south side of the GROTTO are critical habitat and the routes have been removed, posted, and closed.

Low-angle face climbing past three bolts.

Climb the steep face to the right of the black water streak. After clipping the second bolt move right and pull the overlap on positive holds and pockets onto the upper headwall. Battle the pump to the anchors on the slightly overhung headwall.

After clipping the first bolt, traverse right and climb up the right arete using large holds on the left face.

Climbs the slab & 4 ft. roof on the wall left of the descent trail 50 feet before the streambed

and the Grotto are reached, 60 feet left of Miss Pacman. Powerful and sequential. Belay right

from the descent trail.

Steep, sequential and pumpy.  Diagonal up and right past the crux.  Easier climbing then leads to a large ledge.

Lower angle face climbing leads to a ledge and a good rest.  A short, steep headwall with a side-pulling crux leads to the cold shuts.

Located right of the huge block 30 ft above the streambed on the approach to Java Wall. Scramble up the easy, but chossy 5th class wall below and right of the block. After stick clipping the first bolt, climb through a bouldery crux.

"Stinger" (5.9) is located in the Grotto between Slammer and Lowrider. Follows the steep left trending ramp and face to a headwall crux. Numerous edges and pockets throughout. Instantly popular moderate that is in the shade all day.

Climb up the right side of the block, to the left of Little Giant, past three bolts. Some fun arete moves.

Approach the actual route by first scrambling up to the top of a block in front of the wall.  Follow the fun, steep, juggy face to the top.

After clipping the first bolt, move left to the arete and climb over the bulge using hard to see pockets. Action packed for its size.

"Mirror of Erised" climbs the steep arete on the right side of the huge block that sits above the streambed at the entrance to the Grotto. Begin in "the pit" and climb the right side of the narrow face, past 3 bolts to the horizontal break before pulling onto and climbing the arete, past 3 more bolts, right of "Nimrod" and left of "Junior."
